When I began to workout it was for one reason only, and like many women, especially moms, I wanted to lose weight. I followed a really strict diet and worked out 5 times a week, only to be disappointed by the results. I asked several trainers for help and most told me “keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll be fine,” except for one person, Daniel. He right away asked me to send him my food diary and sent me additional workouts that were more specific to my goals.
Daniel followed up with me frequently and really encouraged me to do more. I often told him “I can’t” or that the weight was “too heavy”, but he never let me give up on myself. I quickly realized that this journey wasn’t about me losing the weight. It was me trying to prove that I was able to achieve a goal and do something for myself. I then joined Daniel’s elite training team, and I was hooked. He bred a whole group of people that do not know what the meaning of the word “quit” meant. Whenever we would complete the workout he had for us the first thing he would say was, ”good, now go help someone who is not finished yet” which meant to encourage and motivate whoever had not yet completed the workout. His workouts were very difficult and at times seemed impossible but he would never let us give up. I became addicted to the feeling of accomplishment and was proud of how much stronger I was becoming.
I met an amazing group of people that became a huge part of my fitness journey with all the support they had given me. The results came, but not because I did fad diets, but because I really made some lifestyle changes and changed the people I surround myself with. Daniel taught me that I am capable of more and if I fail at an attempt its ok because you can always try again. I have now come to depend on my workouts to unwind. I love the fact that I can take some time from my day to do something for me and it is all thanks to the culture he embraced in his team. I am proud to say that in 6 months I was able to go from 148 pounds to 129 but more importantly I toned my body and was able to lower my body fat % from 28.3% to 21.8%.

I started my weight loss journey June 1st 2016 and started at 260 pounds. I was able to lose 40 pounds on my own by January 1st 2017. I continued having a balanced diet and workout routine but for about 5 months felt like I had plateaued and gained some weight back. I was hesitant to try out a new gym and routine but decided to try it out. I joined the gym where Daniel was training in the middle of May 2017. I felt as if I couldn’t keep up with the intensity of the work-outs but what kept me going was Daniel’s work ethic and motivation to keep pushing me past my limits and grow stronger mentally and physically.
I was successful in reaching my first goal and lost 25.5 pounds I joined his elite program and not only was I able to reach my goal of 198 but I was much faster and stronger than I have ever felt. When I started my 5k runs it would take me about 40 minutes. I just recently ran one and did it in about 23 minutes. Now 7 months later I am proud to call my trainer more than a friend but a brother. I am truly blessed to be able to continue my journey at The Den Power & Endurance.
I have always been one to keep my doors closed to anyone but what I have learned is this… “Never keep the door shut, you just may never know who’s on the other side willing to make you and everyone around you better.”
